The Scandinavian approach to interior design is based on the values typical for this region: moderation, balance and living in harmony with nature. We see them in economical color spaces, filled only with what is absolutely necessary to feel good. This pragmatism, however, is not in conflict with the friendly and warm character of the interior, which is dominated by natural materials, especially wood. There are also fabrics made of cotton, linen or jute, and the whole is completed with various accessories for practical use
The Scandinavian style likes spaciousness, hence the treatments aimed at optically enlarging the space. White walls and ceilings, open windows and good lighting are effective ways to make the interior consistent with the idea of a healthy and pleasant life. Arrangements that follow this trend are also characterized by cleanliness and lightness of forms, while comfort always goes hand in hand with functionality – according to the Swedish concept of lagom, that is ‘just right, just as much as needed’.
