The building of the former assembly plant, where engines for U-Bots were once assembled, has recently undergone a major revitalisation process. The unique architecture of the building, which dates back to the 1930s, has been superbly respected and properly emphasised by leaving the historic structure and minimalist interventions in the building structure. The architects of the building – the Rayss Group and the investor EURO STYL – took care to expose such artefacts as pre-war tracks, cobblestones, three cranes or the original entrance door. In addition, they referred to the historical colour scheme of the building by leaving the original colours of the walls or metal elements – such as the green doors. This now multifunctional building combines hotel, catering and business functions.
The architects have succeeded in creating a unique atmosphere for the place. The hotel’s industrial-style lofts, modern conference rooms, a children’s area and the so-called ‘Food Hall’, where you can find as many as 15 restaurants offering cuisine from all over the world enriched with music and interesting cultural events, make this place unique and worth a visit.

The site’s external lighting had to meet several conditions. A key aspect, due to the site’s inclusion in the register of historical monuments, was the approval of the landscaping arrangement and the provision of small architecture by the heritage consecrator. Due to the surroundings and the historical value of the site, the lanterns had to relate to the architecture in the area. They were not to dominate the space, although they were to refer to the forms of the industrial lanterns. The new function of the building was also important. Another aspect was that the luminaires also had to meet all the standards of modern and energy-efficient lighting.

In order to achieve satisfactory results on all these levels, we designed a lighthouse in the industrial style, which on the one hand refers to classic austere and functional forms, but also, through the slenderness of the lighthouse column and the details, fits into the historical landscape of the place. It is a combination of modern and rather austere design with classic simple elements. In this way, the Deco lighthouse blends in with the surroundings of the Montowania building as well as the grounds of the Young City
